For improved colour neutrality and clarity, the extra-low dispersion element is offered in the lens design and helps to reduce chromatic aberrations and colour fringing. The XA (Extreme Aspherical) elements are incorporated into the optical design and provide superior surface precision for effective control over distortion, astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other spherical aberrations for a top-level degree of sharpness and accurate rendering. It also offers Nano AR Coating II, this feature has been applied to reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for increased contrast and colour rendering in strong lighting conditions.

Remarkable Construction and Features

The moisture and dust-sealed design allow you to work in inclement conditions. The rubberized control rings benefit handling in colder temperatures. The fluorine-coated front element resists moisture, dust, and fingerprints and is very easy to clean. A focus hold button is offered on the lens barrel for intuitive tactile control and rapid access to select settings. Finally, the two XD Linear Motors, along with an internal focusing design, delivers quiet, quick, and precise autofocus performance. This feature contributes to more natural, intuitive Linear Response manual focus control, and an AF/MF switch is located on the lens barrel for tactile control over this setting.
